On the very tip of Long Island’s South Fork sits Montauk Point, home to
the windswept beaches and craggy dunes of Camp Hero Montauk.
This picturesque spot has a bit of a checkered history.
It was once the property of the United States military.
Camp Hero Montauk plays a key role in coastal defense and served as the
location for an Air Force base in the mid-twentieth century.
In the 1980s, though, New York State recognized the wild beauty of this
stunning spot and made it a part of the state park system.
Camp Hero is open to the public, ready for you to explore and enjoy.
If you love wild walks through real nature, we cannot recommend Camp Hero enough.
It is one of our favorite places to visit with our Long Island couples,
combining both the power of history and the beauty of the natural world.
Though it is only a short drive from the glamour and style of the neighboring Hamptons, Camp Hero feels like a world apart.
When you stand on Montauk Point with your sweetheart, you feel as though you are on the edge of a cliff.
The sea and sky stretch out forever around you, and the only sign of
civilization is the charming spire of the Montauk Lighthouse.
It’s a spot that somehow manages to feel both wild and peaceful, both majestic and welcoming ,
It is the perfect place to capture some of the most special wedding pictures in your lives.
